Fast paced yet satisfyingly intricate. Excellent character development. A background land and history easy to immerse yourself in, yet politically complex. I await the next installment eagerly.
The Soul Thief is a good book. The plot has it's share of twists and turns and at time pacing issues, but it is entertaining from the beginning to end. The best thing this book has going for it is the characters. Though sometimes the plot changes gears a bit too fast, the two main characters are such developed and enjoyable characters to read about that I had no trouble finishing the book. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in fantasy or anyone who enjoys reading about relationships between characters.
I look forward to Lyons next book.
This was a little slow for me to get into but I'm glad I did. It's a rare treat to find epic fantasy with a lesbian protagonist. It's an even rarer treat to find something in that category that's well-written, has interesting and well-developed characters, an engaging plot, and solid and internally consistent-world building. I would enjoy this books purely on its fantasy story merits, the queer characters are a nice bonus.
